About the Padel Americano & Mexicano Generator

Run a padel Americano or Mexicano without a spreadsheet. Type the players, pick how many courts you have, and every round comes out with new partners, court numbers and anyone sitting out. Each game is played to 24 points, every player keeps the points their team wins, and the standings update as you enter scores. Choose Americano for a full schedule drawn up front, or Mexicano for rounds drawn from the standings, so the games get closer as the evening goes on. Share one link and the whole club follows along on their phones.

How it works

  1. Add the playersOne name per line, 4 to 24 players. Four play on each court; if the number isn’t a multiple of four, the extra players sit out in turn.
  2. Pick Americano or MexicanoAmericano draws every round now, with the partners spread as evenly as possible. Mexicano draws round 1, then each next round from the standings.
  3. Play, score and shareEnter each game as it finishes, like 15–9. The points go to each player, the standings update, and in Mexicano the next round appears when the last game of the round is in.

How a padel Americano works

An Americano is a social padel tournament where you play with a different partner in every round and are ranked on your own results. There are no fixed teams. Each game is played to a set number of points, usually 24, and both teams keep what they win: a 15–9 game gives the two winners 15 points each and the two losers 9 each. After the last round, the player with the most points wins.

The schedule matters. With 8 players on 2 courts, 7 rounds let everyone partner everyone else exactly once and face every other player twice, the perfect Americano, and that is the schedule you get here. With other numbers, the rounds are built so partners repeat as little as possible and nobody sits out more than once before everyone has sat out once.

Serving usually rotates every few points so that all four players serve the same number of times; with 24 points that’s six serves each. Many clubs also switch sides halfway, at 12 points.

Americano vs Mexicano

A Mexicano starts the same way, with a random first round, but every round after that is drawn from the standings. The four players at the top play on court 1, the next four on court 2, and so on. Inside each group, 1st and 4th play together against 2nd and 3rd, which keeps the games close. If that pairing would repeat a partnership, it switches to 1st and 3rd against 2nd and 4th.

  • Americano is the friendlier format for mixed levels: you play with everyone, and the full schedule is known from the start, so people can see when they sit out.
  • Mexicano suits a group that wants competitive games: after two or three rounds the strongest players meet on the top court and the scores get tight everywhere.

In Mexicano each round is drawn only when the last game of the round before has a score, and a round that has been drawn never changes. If you correct an earlier score later, the rounds already on court stay as they are.

Players, courts and sit-outs

Every court takes four players. The most common sizes:

  • 8 players, 2 courts: no one sits out; 7 rounds is the classic full Americano.
  • 12 players, 3 courts and 16 players, 4 courts: no sit-outs, any number of rounds.
  • 9 or 10 players on 2 courts: one or two players sit out each round, in turn, so everyone sits out the same number of times, give or take one.

Players who sit out get no points that round. When the sit-outs don’t divide evenly, the standings also show the number of games each player has played, so you can see who had one game fewer. If you want a perfectly fair count, choose a number of rounds that lets everyone sit out the same number of times.

Points, time and scoring

The padel preset plays every game to 24 points in total, so a game ends when the two scores add up to 24, like 13–11 or 18–6, and a 12–12 draw is possible. A game takes about 15 to 20 minutes, so 7 rounds fit in a two-hour court booking with time to change courts. Short on time? Play to 16 points. A longer session can go to 32. The score sheet reminds you of the 24-point total but accepts any score, so enter what you actually played.

The standings rank by total points, then by point difference, then by games won. Tap a game to correct a score at any time, and the standings follow.

Team Americano and other sports

In a Team Americano the partners stay together and the pairs rotate opponents. Enter each pair as one line, like “Ana & Ben”, and use the round robin generator: every pair meets every other pair once and the table ranks the teams. For a knockout finish, add a playoff after the groups.

The same rotating-partner format works for other doubles sports. The pickleball round robin page sets it up with games to 11, and the sports page lists tennis, badminton and the rest with their own scoring.

Questions people ask

What is a padel Americano?

A social padel format where you change partner every round and are ranked on your own points. Each game is played to a fixed total, usually 24 points, both teams keep what they win, and the player with the most points after the last round wins.

What is the difference between Americano and Mexicano?

In an Americano the whole schedule is set in advance so you partner as many different players as possible. In a Mexicano each round is drawn from the standings, so players with similar points play together and the games get closer as the evening goes on.

How many points is an Americano game?

Usually 24, sometimes 16, 21 or 32. With 24 points each player serves six times, and the two scores always add up to 24.

How many players do you need for a padel Americano?

Four per court: 8 players for 2 courts is the classic. Anything from 4 to 24 works here; when the number isn’t a multiple of four, the extra players sit out in turn.

How long does a padel Americano take?

A 24-point game takes about 15 to 20 minutes, so 7 rounds fit into roughly two hours, including changes of court.

What if we have an odd number of players?

The players who don’t fit on a court sit out that round, in rotation, so everyone sits out the same number of times, give or take one. The standings show how many games each player played.

Can I run a Team Americano with fixed partners?

Yes. Enter each pair as one name and use the round robin generator, so every pair plays every other pair once and the table ranks the teams.
